An opulent showcase of quality produce, G.McBean Family Butcher celebrates the traditional art of butchery, passed down over four generations. The family business – a mainstay of the Prahran Markets for nearly 40 years – now occupies a landmark corner tenancy of the markets, with sweeping butchery and delicatessen counters compelling shoppers to discover G.McBean’s premium selection of free range, grass-fed, dry-aged and organic meats.
The stately interior reflects the family’s enduring and masterful knowledge of the trade, with traditional hand-glazed tiling, filled travertine, brass cladding and trims crafting a tailored and timeless feel. High vaulted ceilings establish a nostalgic, architectural quality, complemented by honed concrete floors and green marble inlays, carefully detailed with inset brass lettering.
Views to the raw production area frame the team’s skilled butchery as a performative and educational gesture, foregrounded by refrigerated, whole-carcass meat displays, bespoke butchers blocks and traditional equipment, custom finished in oxblood red. Designed by PleasePleasePlease, a hand stitched parchment pendant called ‘The Snag Light’ glows delicately overhead, its elongated form playfully referencing a string of chipolata sausages.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
