Foster & Black Melbourne Central

Foster & Black Melbourne Central was conceived as a bold counterpoint to the visual chaos of its shopping centre context, taking the form of a monolithic sculptural kiosk occupying a 20sqm tenancy pad wedged between two imposing columns along the Lonsdale Street pedestrian bridge. A single, saturated red wraps the entire structure, transforming it into a striking landmark within Melbourne Central's predominantly black and white retail environment.

Integrated seating and tables are carved directly into the form, creating a moment of pause amid the surrounding activity, while transparent elements and subtle illumination lend the kiosk a glowing quality that draws the eye from every approach. Constructed in durable Meganite solid surface, the result is a youthful and expressive object, robust enough for a demanding pedestrian environment yet refined enough to hold its own as a destination within the mall's complex spatial choreography.
